We believe introduction to alphabets should be more fun than learning if we want to achieve fruitful results. This motivated us to deviate from traditional learning practices while preparing the assignments.
We teach kids online and asynchronously every week at five different learning levels. So you are not bound by any specific time to be part of this learning endeavor.
We broke the shackles of traditional learning and developed a curriculum which has enabled Bengali kids to speak, read, write and befriend Bengali literature by singing Bengali songs, dancing to them and reciting Bengali poems.
We are elated seeing our students religiously completing and submitting the assignments. We have had several like-minded families from Minnesota, Texas,California, New York, Hyderabad and Kolkata join our journey. We are grateful to all the parents of our students for entrusting us to inculcate the love for our mother tongue in their children. Without their blessings and allowance to peek into their busy schedules to fit in our curriculum, Boi-Chitro could not have metamorphosed in its current form.
We have a monthly meetups where our students can spend some enriching time together browsing books, making crafts for fundraising, listening to stories and participating in cultural activities.
If you haven’t attended any of our events yet, please do so for our next event. We are sure we can reward you with some quality time worth of remembrance.
Based upon requests from numerous adults who visited our events Boi-Chitro has opened the doors for the adults to indulge in the ‘Pujobarshikis’ and various other classics that we have recently added to our bibliotheca.
Across the 7,168 living languages today, 44% are at risk of being endangered. In fact, a language dies off every 40 days. At current rates, 90% of the world’s languages could disappear over the next 100 years.
What if someone tells you that out of the 245 indigenous languages in the United States, 65 are already extinct and 75 are near extinction with only a few elder speakers left ?
We all have a duty towards keeping Bangla, our native language, strong and alive. So, feel proud of our language.
